Reading a script out loud, twice

Why the second read-through catches what the first one forgives, and how it changes a broadcast line.

Every script gets read out loud at least twice before I sign off on it.

The first pass is for meaning: does the line say what the brand needs it to say, in the time the edit allows? The second pass is for the mouth: can a voice actor land it without stumbling, and does the rhythm still work when it sits under music?

Most of the changes I make live in that second pass. A comma becomes a full stop. A four-syllable word becomes two. Nothing about the meaning shifts, but the line finally sounds like a person saying it.
